Virtual Worlds and Poetic Spaces
Call for Student Web3D art
(non commercial, non professional)
Deadline: July 10th 2010
Submission Instructions: Complete and Submit the form to the right. Be sure to fill in all fields, including the URL for a video. The video is required because of the diversity of 3D technology, the potential for conflict and the need to allow online viewers to preview works without installing software.
Software & Technology:
Any 3D software is acceptable. Web based works are preferred. X3D/VRML, Collada, BS Contact, Unity 3D, Unreal, Virtools, Second Life, Shockwave 3D, and Habbo Hotel, to name a few. Diversity is an underlying goal of this exhibition.
Due to diversity and usability issues surrounding interactive art, URL’s for video clips will be required for all submissions. Video clips should be 2 minutes in length unless the work is an online performance, in which case record it in its entirety. Upload the video to Youtube or other video service.
Theme:
Any genre of online 3D art is acceptable, including musical works, galleries, sculptures, works of theory, and interactive installations. Of particular interest are immersive poetic works that highlight the relationship between story and space. Realistic story-based worlds are acceptable, but unconventional spaces driven by unconventional narratives are preferred.
Online 3D performances are acceptable, but only a URL of the performance space and a video clip will be shown. Not desired are professional or commercial works, realistic models or spaces not connected to a story or design theory. Online 3D games are not desired, but exceptions might be made for works tied to social or artistic concerns.
Students, recent graduates, or those preparing to enter college are encouraged to submit work (commercial entities are not).
This is not a juried event (A completed form is required).
